There was a great hum of excitement around the Wyeside camp when Verden Allen agreed to showcase his new band Soft Ground at the festival.
Having recently joined the rest of Mott The Hoople at the Apollo in Hammersmith, keyboard player Verden couldn’t wait to get back on the road.
His new band Soft Ground includes bass player Rob Hankins, lead guitarist Graham Masters and drummer Tim Price all of whom live in Herefordshire.
Before Mott The Hoople, Verden was a member of the Shakedown Sound which became Jimmy Cliffs backing band. He was also the founding member of The Cheeks which included drummer Martin Chambers and guitarist James Honeyman-Scott.
Local band Tramps Like Us are quoted as saying "We're not afraid to say we're new and different. We're from Hereford and we like to get people moving!" Well were definitely up for that!
