esOterica’s debut album “The Fool” produced by John Fryer (Nine Inch Nails, HIM, Depeche Mode etc…) achieved the highest critical acclaim from radio stations and magazines alike upon its release in 2008. Consequently the album went on to become the best selling record on the biggest independent distributor charts. Playing on Saturday this band is ready to set Wyeside alight.
First forming in 1974 The Strangler’s straight talking approach gave them the reputation as aggressive and confrontational with their notoriety later embraced by the punk movement of 77. This led to their debut single 'Grip' and their legendary first album Rattus Norvegicus.  This was followed by such hits as ‘Peaches’, ‘No More Heroes’, ‘5 Minutes’, ‘Duchess’, ‘Something Better Change’, ‘Always the Sun’ and their ultimate classic ‘Golden Brown’.
To date the bands success boasts 24 top 40 singles and 18 top 40 albums.
After re-signing to EMI in 2004 their last 2 albums 'Norfolk Coast' and ‘Suite XVI’ have been  hailed as their best for 20 years, with hit singles ‘Big Thing Coming’ and ‘Long Black Veil’ giving the band the rare accolade of maintaining top 40 hits over 4 decades.
There was a great hum of excitement around the Wyeside camp when Verden Allen agreed to showcase his new band Soft Ground at the festival.
Having recently joined the rest of Mott The Hoople at the Apollo in Hammersmith, keyboard player Verden couldn’t wait to get back on the road.
His new band Soft Ground includes bass player Rob Hankins, lead guitarist Graham Masters and drummer Tim Price all of whom live in Herefordshire.
Before Mott The Hoople, Verden was a member of the Shakedown Sound which became Jimmy Cliffs backing band.  He was also the founding member of The Cheeks which included drummer Martin Chambers and guitarist James Honeyman-Scott.
This year we are pleased to announce that our mainsponsor Sunshine Radio will be at Wyeside.
As well as running the main Sunshine stage they will also be bringing along the Sunshine bus.
